Pellet stoves
Heating with these wood stoves, so called pellet stoves, cannot be compared with regular open fireplaces. In pellet stoves, you do not burn wood blocks, but wood pellets. Standardized wood pieces, pressed out of sawdust, coming from the wood industry and the forestry. The pieces are dried and pressed under very high pressure, what causes a very equal grain texture with a constantly low humidity level. The quality of the pellets is carefully watched to make sure the burning will cause as few as possible polution. Pellets: a recyclable, climate neutral fuelThe burning of biomass (such as wood pellets) can be seen as a form of renewable energy. Under the influence of sunlight, during the growth of plants and trees CO2 from the athmosphere is stored in the vegetable material (photosynthesis). The vegetable material can then be used as energy source, for example by burning it for heating. Because this makes the same amount of CO2 to be released as was stored, nett there is no CO2 production. With normal forestry wood will be available for future generations, where gas and oilsupplies will slowly run out. |
